To develop Kingdom culture in our homes, our city, and the world.
To see every person encounter and celebrate the goodness of God.
the kingdom || where god is reigning and ruling
Scripture's use of the word Kingdom is translated from the Greek word basileia, which means “the realm in which a sovereign king rules.” Jesus began His ministry by preaching these words: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In other words, God's realm of sovereign rule has come to earth and it's going to change everything, so turn from your old ways and embrace the new.
As Jesus continued to teach the disciples, He told them to seek the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33), pray for the Kingdom (Matthew 6:10), preach the Kingdom (Matthew 10:7), and to realize that He will give to them the keys of the Kingdom (Matthew 16:19). There is no doubt, the Kingdom of Heaven was central to the teaching of Jesus in every way.
In Romans 14, Paul says, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17). So where is the Kingdom? It is found in the Holy Spirit. As adopted children of God, God has graciously saved us through Jesus’ finished work and the Holy Spirit has taken up residency inside of us. We are now the temple of the living God. He dwells in us and has promised to never leave us. Never. As followers of Jesus, we have the great privilege to carry the Kingdom of Heaven in us because we are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14).
culture || Our beliefs and behaviors
Our system of beliefs and behaviors create the culture that we live in. Through Jesus' life, death and resurrection, we are given a gracious invitation into His Kingdom where our old beliefs and behaviors must bow to His good and glorious ways of life in the Kingdom.
Jesus' entire ministry was about changing the culture around him to reflect the culture that was in Him. It was through Jesus' ministry that the world began to encounter the culture of Heaven. It is through His call in the Great Commandment (Matthew 28:18-20) that all Christians get the glorious invitation to co-labor with Jesus in the advancement of Heaven's Kingdom on earth.
As we listen and obey the words of Jesus, it makes us hungry to see God mercifully pour out His presence in tangible ways that will bring salvation to the lost, healing to the broken, hope for the hopeless, and freedom to the captives. Our assignment is to seek, pray, and preach the Kingdom with the staunch realization that God has chosen to partner with us to redeem His people and His earth. We get to be a part of God’s redemption story! This makes everyday an adventure as we walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called (Ephesians 4:1)!
