Ryan Carson

Lead Pastor

Ryan was born in Louisville, Kentucky and spent his elementary and middle school years in Orlando, Florida before moving to Charlotte, NC in 1995 for high school.   He was a two time all-state basketball player at Providence Day School and went on to play college basketball at Furman University, where he graduated with a degree in Business.  He grew up Catholic and it wasn’t until he moved to Charlotte in 9th grade and started attending Forest Hill with one of his basketball coaches that he first heard the message of the grace of Jesus Christ.  While there were many years of seeds being planted and watered, it wasn’t until the summer before his senior year in college that Jesus saved him and brought deep meaning and revelation to all of the things he had heard and learned up to that point.  After college, he went on to work with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  In 2006, he went on full-time staff at Forest Hill Church, where he spent the next 8 years doing ministry with kids and students.  During that time, he received a Masters in Christian Thought from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  In 2012, the Lord began to place a dream in Ryan and Bethany’s hearts to plant a new church.  They finally yielded to God’s continual loving nudges to start something new, and Mission Community Church was birthed in the fall of 2014.  They are hungry to see people encounter Jesus and to understand their identities as citizens in the Kingdom of heaven.  They want MCC to be an authentic culture that lovingly upholds sound doctrine and passionately pursues the things of the Spirit.  They are supremely passionate about Jesus Christ and about seeing the power of God, through His Holy Spirit, renew and transform the lives of individuals, marriages, and families.  Ryan and Bethany have four children, Anna Grace, Caleb, Emily, and Joshua.

Travis Mincey

Director of Ministry and Operations

Travis was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, grew up in a small Western Pennsylvania town just north of Pittsburgh, and has called Charlotte home since 2010. Although he considered himself a “Christian,” he only truly began to follow Jesus after surviving a near fatal illness in his early twenties.  It was during that trial that the Lord opened the eyes of his heart, allowing him to completely surrender a worldly life for the incredible joy and freedom found by following Jesus. After graduating from Grove City College with a degree in Communications, he spent 10 years working in professional sports and entertainment. He and his wife, Candace, have been a part of planting MCC from the very beginning. After serving on the Interim Advisory Board for several years, he joined the MCC Team after feeling the call to pursue pastoral ministry. His passion is to see the presence of God bring miraculous transformation to all people in all places. Travis and Candace enjoy finding great restaurants, spending time exploring Carolina’s beaches and mountains and having dance parties in their living room with their three young daughters, McKenna, Caris and Kyla.

Josh Gomez

Worship Arts Director

Josh grew up in the Charlotte area and began leading worship when he was 14 years old. At that time he knew that God had called him to lead and to pastor in the creative and worship arts. He has never had a job outside of ministry and has served in multiple large churches in both Family Ministries and Creative Arts Ministries, developing leaders and teams for the last 10 years. Josh’s passion for worship is to see the church worship in Spirit and in Truth, to see idleness admonished, to see joy found in intimacy with God, and for freedom to invade the Christian so that they can worship passionately and unashamedly. He graduated from Columbia International University in 2014 with a double major in Bible Exposition and Communications and a minor in Digital Media Production, and married his wife, Brooke, the same year. They have a passion for story-telling, visual communications, and love working together in their photography business (We Are One Photography). Their hope is to one day start a non-profit for non-profits, which will use visual communications to help ministries and missionaries raise awareness and support.

bekah bowen

Admin & Ministry Coordinator

Bekah was born in Charlotte, NC but relocated to coastal South Carolina with her family after elementary school. With a degree in English, she moved back to the Queen City in 2010 to pursue her masters in secondary education. God had a different plan in mind and He called her to full time urban ministry in Grier Heights, a neighborhood just south of uptown that has suffered from high crime, low employment, and generational poverty. She worked with kids and families in the neighborhood for 7 years, as a volunteer for 4 years and then in an official capacity with the non-profit Crossroads Corporation for 3 years. God brought her to MCC in May and from the first Sunday she has felt like she “has returned to her first love.” She has always had a heart that desires to leave the world changed-to make an eternal imprint on the lives of people, to show the world that Hope exists in the person of Jesus Christ. How great is the gift of salvation and abundant life! “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3). She feels God’s goodness and favor in allowing her to serve with MCC and loves that she is able to grow in such a Spirit filled community. If you can’t find her at MCC, she is most likely loving on kids in Grier Heights or spending time outdoors.

Chick Efird

Kids@MCC Curriculum Coordinator

Chick serves as Kids@MCC Curriculum Coordinator.   She has been employed in children’s ministry for 25 years and has a wide variety of experience ranging from church plants to mega-church children’s ministries. Originally from the great state of New Jersey, Chick migrated south after graduating from college and met her husband of 35 years, Jim.  They have 3 of the greatest kids in the world and a couple of pretty awesome son-in-laws too. The 'cherry on top' is her brand new granddaughter, Olivia.  Chick absolutely loves kids and considers it an extreme privilege to come alongside families to help them lay a strong foundation in their children as they grow spiritually, socially, emotionally and intellectually... and adds "May they all come to know Jesus at an early age and follow Him all the days of their lives."

Reagan Rudolph

Reagan was born and raised in Charlotte and has a huge passion for seeing the city come together for Christ. She graduated from Appalachian State in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education and is pursuing her heart for children’s ministry through serving as our Sunday Morning Coordinator for Kids@MCC. She has recently returned to Charlotte after spending a year on staff with Young Life at Windy Gap along with traveling and nannying for a family in Europe for half a year. She comes from a family of 5 with a younger brother and sister and two supporting, loving parents. Reagan is thrilled to be a part of this team to help lead and foster volunteers with Kids@MCC as well as invest in the mission to help children experience the presence of God. Her heart is to see children grow to understand how free, loved and cared for they are by their Heavenly Father.
